Jake Tibbitts, Natural Resources Manager

Eureka County Natural Resources

The Natural Resources Manager is responsible for promoting the sustainable use, management and conservation of the natural resources within Eureka County, which are vital to our local economy and environment.

This role involves developing and implementing strategies, plans, and policies to balance resource use with conservation efforts, ensuring that critical assets such as rangelands, water, and minerals are managed responsibly.

The Natural Resources Manager works closely with other county boards and departments to integrate natural resources management considerations into land use planning and policy and development decisions. This includes advising on any projects and other initiatives within the county that may impact or concern natural resources. The manager engages with the public, including through formal county boards such as the Natural Resources Advisory Commission, the Advisory Board to Manage Wildlife, and the Eureka Conservation District, providing education and outreach to ensure that residents and businesses are informed about programs and projects and the importance of wise natural resources use and management.

Through collaboration with various stakeholders, the manager helps maintain and ensure that natural resources are sustained and available for both current and future generations.
